Overview

Baker Mountain Guides Comprehensive Traditional Climbing Course is designed to provide our students with a thorough understanding of placing and cleaning gear, building anchors, crack climbing techniques, and multi-pitch theory. After four days, participants will be leading multi-pitch traditional climbs. Our instructors will provide real-time feedback and work closely with every student, building upon each person’s individual skill set.

Baker Mountain Guides custom course flow adapts to each climber. We build upon our students existing skills in order to provide everyone with the most pertinent information. Our local knowledge will foster your growth.


Itinerary

Baker Mountain Guides offers scheduled and custom 4-day Comprehensive Traditional Climbing Courses in Washington, Utah, and British Columbia.


  • Day 1: Fundamentals

    On day 1 We will cover modern forms of traditional placement and dive deep into anchor building and placing gear while climbing on top rope. Instructors will hang on a line next to you and give you feedback with each placement.


  • Day 2: Crack Climbing Technique

    Day 2 will focus on expanding your crack climbing movement repertoire. Instructors will work closely with you to improve your movement ability so that you can place gear and move with confidence.


  • Day 3: Leading

    Day 3 will be focused on getting students on the sharp end. We will work with each student to get them on their first traditional leads.


  • Day 4: Multi Pitch

    On the final day of this course we will introduce the fundamentals of traditional multi pitch climbing. Students will be encouraged to lead short multi-pitch routes by the end of the day.
